Why Morrelli?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
The following sentence will only mean anything if the reader frequented the Faculty Lounge.

Why has Skater girl morphed into Morrelli?

Well... I did try to register here as Skater girl and it wouldn't have it, so I sat puzzling over what else would mean something to me without giving too much away. At the time, I was on the second reading of a series of books by Janet Evanovich that my sister introduced me to. Stephanie Plum, the heroine is like me in some ways - she has no big plans for her life, she heads straight for the bakery when life is stressful, and she goes home to her family on a regular basis even though they drive her nuts. Unlike me though, Stephanie frequently gets her car blown up, has trouble committing to the main man in her life (Joe Morelli) and is frequently tempted by danger man (Ranger). Of the two, I would definitely settle for the Italian stallion, Morelli, and since his name sounds like some wonderful type of ice cream, I decided I would pinch it. As luck would have it, I couldn't use the name as it stood, so I just added an extra 'r' to make it linger on the tongue a nanosecond longer.

I read the first book 'One for the money' quite reluctantly and only because my sister had shoved it into my hands, but I have been so glad she did that. They aren't exactly heavy intellectual reading, but the books make me laugh (hysterically at times), they have me on the edge of my seat, and they have some characters I can really relate to having been married into an Italian family in North America once upon a time. We are on to book 13 now, but I'm not so sure how many more Evanovich can write without simply taking the triangle relationship thing round in circles, thereby losing some of the spark.

Harry Lloyd

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Just over a month ago, I watched Dr Who, as I always do since David Tennant made it worth watching, and a fairly new young actor drew my attention away from the lovely Mr Tennant. Harry Lloyd as Jeremy Baines/Son of Mine was amazing and excited me in ways that I am sure the character was not intended to. Just as Elijah Wood drew me in with his blue eyes and the beautiful way he spoke English as Frodo, this guy captured me with his blazing stare and the same almost accentless English. I was compelled to look into who he was and what else he had acted in and I wasn't disappointed. Cute as a button in David Copperfield and Goodbye Mr Chips, he has matured into a gorgeous young man capable of commanding me as Baines and then in turns want to mother him, laugh at him, and be young enough to have a crush on him as Jason Bradley in Vital Signs, a medical drama screened in 2006 in the UK.

I am so hoping his career goes from strength to strength so I can enjoy watching him on screen for many years. He seems so far to be another actor like David Tennant and Elijah Wood, who can say a lot with his eyes and who can get right into a character.

New to this

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Well, here goes for my first Live Journal entry.

After making good use of the journals of other generous people who post pictures and updates for Elijah Wood fans, I finally took the plunge to register myself, when one of these wonderful people had to close down her own website and make her journal open to members only.

I am one of Elijah's many mature and sensible fans. Grateful for the entertainment he has provided through his many films, and proud to be the fan of an actor who seems to be a basically good human being, I am enjoying the road his career is taking me down. This man I have never even spoken to has taken me to places I would never have been, and brought me to literature and music I would never have read or heard. I wouldn't be here now, were it not for him.

I am really pleased that Elijah seems to have found a good partner, and that he let the relationship build for a year before he paraded her on the red carpet at a circus like Cannes.

Everyone deserves the happiness a soul mate brings, and I wish the pair all the luck in the world for building a lasting partnership.
